How Technology is Silently Enabling Aspiring Entrepreneurs

How Technology is Silently Enabling Aspiring Entrepreneurs

“Just call me Angel of the morning, angel.”

Isn’t it surprising how songs just become a part of our lives? Either as a witness to some happy moment or something that keeps you motivated and focused on achieving something bigger- like a new business idea. This is the beauty of ideas, the best ones come when you least expect it.

The greatest ideas are usually a combination of your memory and motivation. And it is this idea that changes the course of your life, maybe history, and could possibly lead to new inventions.

We live in an age where technology has disrupted how traditional businesses operate. It should be pointed here that technology does not always mean making life simpler by solving complex issues it’s not always about finding new things, sometimes magic unfolds in doing existing things in new and exciting ways.

Take, for instance, Zipline. They’re taking home delivery to a new level. This company uses high-tech drones to deliver life-saving medicines and supplies to those in need internationally. Just imagine the endless possibilities!

However, not every business has the privilege of using high-level, edgy technology as Zipline does. In order for a business to be on top of their game, it is no news that it has to leverage technology to create an impactful difference in the customer experience.

Today, we are going to talk about these businesses which use tech in the best possible ways to enable their disruption, however big or small. An ode to all the dreamers who became doers.

How it all begins…

What’s the difference between a dreamer and doer? A doer does not shrug away from getting his hands dirty. And we all know that great entrepreneurs start from being a doer and not just a dreamer.

There is a small-time salad bar near my gym. The owner dishes out (pun intended!) new and exotic salads based on the gym goer’s diet plan. And to my surprise, this entrepreneur happened to be your regular IT guy who worked 9-5 behind a computer screen but always dreamt of opening a salad bar of his own.

Business catalysts helping through technology

We grow by helping others…

This young salad bar entrepreneur might not be making much, but we can’t deny the value that he is bringing to the table through his commitment.

It’s an idea that starts a company, but it is crucial for a budding entrepreneur to understand the value-added benefits that he can provide to his customer with the advantage of technology.

What if he could expand through other channels – say home delivery? This is where technology comes into the picture and can redefine the whole business plan. From taking orders through calls in a systematic manner to sending a payment link through SMS, technology certainly opens gates to new scalable possibilities.

Entrepreneurship doesn’t always have to be fuelled only by passion. A method to the madness helps a budding businessman survive in this big, bad, competitive world. Having a record for all the calls, promoting new salads in the most simple ways like SMS, automated payment reminders- these can go a long way in saving your sanity, and eventually your business!

Behind every new business is the silent work of technology

There is an absolute joy that everyone feels on seeing a small business make it big in this competitive world. A baking store in Delhi is using the influence of technology to spread their sweetness. Run by a mother-son duo, this mom-and-pop bakery wants their joy to be delivered to as many people as possible. Their communication system is handled by Exotel.

Now, why would a small business like this need cloud telephony services? It is not about the size of the business anymore. The same technology is available to all business- big or small. It is about how the business uses it for their benefit.

This bakery uses the power of cloud telephony to manage their calls and enquiries so that they don’t lose out on even a single customer order. A simple solution for a problem that is most common in businesses of all size.

To sum it up…

We all have seen our parents squeal like little kids upon sending their first email or even a random WhatsApp forward to us. This is the beauty of technology, it empowers and equips you with confidence and an urge to learn more. We still have miles to go ahead, but looking at a small ‘pani-puri’ hawker with ‘Accepts Paytm’ board on his kiosk makes our heart swell with pride.

Small businesses need to come under the gamut of technology, not just to fix an issue but to explore new possibilities for their business, and to achieve what they set out to do in the first place. Today, there is no business, no matter the size, that cannot power itself forward using technology. All you need is a thought starter and right direction to explore the right channels at the right time. And cloud technology is making it possible for one and all.
