As most of you already know, the former Vodafone CEO Arun Sarin has joined Exotel as a mentor and angel investor. Arun is a telecommunications veteran and served as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Vodafone Group from 2003-2008.
His career began in 1984 at the Pacific Telesis Group, and he was made President and COO of Airtouch Communications in 1997. After an Airtouch-Vodafone merger in 1999, he was appointed as the CEO of Vodafone’s U.S-Pacific region. He left Vodafone in 2000 to head two other companies- Infospace Inc. and Accel-KKR Telecom. Arun presently holds various board positions across top global corporations such as Safeway Inc. and Blackhawk Network Holdings, among others.
I’m personally very thrilled at welcoming Arun on board because of the wealth of experience that Arun has in running successful companies in the telecom space.
Arun Sarin and Exotel: A rekindled connection
Our connection with Arun goes back to almost a decade when Blume ventures connected us. I have always looked up to Arun as a leader. The kind of experience that Arun has in the telecom space is unparalleled. Arun has rich experience handling several M&A’s, a keen eye for brand and a knack for fueling growth for highly disruptive companies.
Arun also currently advises several late stage companies including Ola, Meesho, PineLabs, DailyHunt, and Saavn. This also gives him a great insight into some of the roadblocks faced by founders at this stage.
I’m very excited to have that experience also shape the growth trajectory of Exotel.
At the right time, and the right place
As a company, we stand at the nexus of telecom and technology. For the first time since Exotel’s inception, we are going through a radical transformation on the platform front to meet the bigger challenges in the market. Having Arun associated with us on this journey brings us immense confidence. Together, we take a step forward towards creating a truly global cloud based customer engagement platform.
Welcome aboard, Arun! Exotel is excited to be partnering with you.
